In 1926 for the first time women from many places around the world gathered in their groups to participate in a common worship service built around prayer.

It was co-ordinated by Christian women of the USA and Canada in support of mission at home and overseas.

It is now known as “World Day of Prayer”, and is celebrated in over 150 countries and in 88 different languages.

Each year the service is prepared by the Nation that is the focus of the prayer on the day.

Through the services, those who attend become familiar with the culture, language, customs, joys and concerns of those who are being upheld in prayer.
